Double Decker – VLA 131 Discover the rich history of London’s transportation with VLA 131, an iconic red double-decker. Originally introduced in 2005, this striking bus served various routes, including the 128, 150, 173, and 368, as well as school and rail replacement routes. After years of dedicated service, it retired on April 21st, 2020, as one of the last ALX400s in London. Meticulously restored by London Bus Experiences, VLA 131 is now at the heart of the London Bus Driving Experience. Get ready to relive history and drive this beauty!
Double Decker – TP 417 Delivered to Holloway in 2003, it was promptly showcased at Showbus and served a variety of routes from many different garages, mainly in North and Central London. In late 2015, its journey took a twist when Metroline sold it to Ensignbus. Rather than regular routes, TP417 was used for distinct tasks, including rail replacements, tube strike reliefs, and even had a cameo in BBC’s Sherlock. By 2016, it was under Seaford & District’s banner and later sold to Loyalty Connections of Margate. Fast forward to 2023, this iconic bus joined the London Bus Experiences fleet, marking yet another chapter in its storied history. The bus will be used on the London Bus Driving Experience and in future it has the option to be used on other types of work.
Driving Lessons and Instructors
Our experienced instructors will guide you through the experience, from familiarisation with the vehicle to learning new driving skills and techniques. We cater to both confident drivers and beginners, ensuring that everyone feels confident and in control. All of our driving experiences take place on a private road network, free from hazards like other vehicles and pedestrians.
Experience Details
We have different vehicles available, including ones that have been specially adapted for bus driver training. Thanks to the dual controls (like in a learners car), anybody can drive this bus, even without a driver’s licence or any car driving experience!
